About the director of MY HEALTH VISITOR, Jean Kydd

Jean Kydd - Director of My Health VisitorI am Jean Kydd a married mother of 2 teenage sons with many years experience of providing professional healthcare support at every stage of family life.

I trained and worked as an NHS community Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor in Scotland before travelling abroad with my husband to live in Norway and America where I worked for several years as a nurse in a private maternity hospital.
The experience of living abroad increased our awareness of the important contribution community support makes to family health and wellbeing , so when a further work relocation brought us to Surrey we decided to settle and establish our family home in the area. Following a 3 year maternity break I resumed work as an NHS Health Visitor within the local community and for the next 14 years enjoyed juggling life as a working Mum with providing professional support to other families living in my own neighbourhood.

In 2007 restructuring of the NHS Health Visiting service significantly reduced the level of support to be delivered to families in my local community so to ensure I could maintain my professional standards I resigned from the NHS and began working as an independent Health Visitor.

My private practice has grown steadily over the past 3 years. In addition to offering home and private clinic visits to parents seeking enhanced health visiting or parenting support, I also provide independent services to Children’s Centres and have undertaken further professional development courses to provide specialist support for families coping with ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

As the new director of MY HEALTH VISITOR my aims are to develop the current range of services, provide guidance to professional colleagues considering independent practice and expand our existing network of private health visitors so parents across the UK can have the option of accessing enhanced personalised support in their own area.
